As an Investor Relations professional, I needed online tools for marketing deals, sourcing capital, cultivating relationships, managing contacts, and more. Not finding anyone up to the task, I taught myself how to hard-code html and ColdFusion, and built all these web-based tools myself. What evolved from this work became my business: "VCilitate Marketing Services".

VCilitate was designed to help investment advisors, business brokers, and other financial intermediaries access additional funding sources, manage contacts, and track dealflow. It provides tools for authoring and delivering personalized, targeted content for deal marketing campaigns. It also can help early-stage companies access the private equity and debt capital markets.

While successful, VCilitate was (and remains) a capitalist tool. It has no social signficance. I wanted to use my talents for more important and meaningful endeavors, like helping non-profits use the web to grow. Many of the software tools I developed were easily adapted for this new role.

My first NPO website was for Malabar Farm, a place I often visited in my youth. Malabar is a magical place with a fascinating story, but their old website simply wasn't telling the full story. I think I've changed that. In my own way.
